Memorial Monday

Celebrating Memorial Day Monday making Monday Morning Hexies.

I am remembering folks who have sacrificed for our country, and I am sad but grateful.

I am missing my late husband who planted many beautiful perennials that give me everlasting joy.

I am thankful that bees are making a comeback.

I'm glad that nature can produce miracles even after a relentless winter,

but my garage won't paint itself!

Just as soon as I finish another hexie strip....

More Celebrating Here

My birthday just keeps on giving...   These wonderful blue batiks were tucked in a card from Susan.  They are just what I need to jazz up my Indigo hexies.  She also baked me a delicious cake!!  And Betty made Brownies!!!

AND...my friend Eri made me this great thread catcher and zipper bag with encouraging reminders to "Keep calm and carry on, etc..."

AND...to help me Carry On, my London Connection sent me this very special box of chocolate, which is said to be the favorite of the Royals.   Thank you ever so much, Dorothy!  (She also told me she will be quilting in her new studio very soon.  I look forward to seeing what she will make with the fabric she bought while living in New York.)

I want to thank everyone who helped me celebrate this special birthday.    Looking forward to the next big one in 25 years....and it will be here before I know it!!!

Milestone

I know I turn seventy-five today, because I got this reminder in the mail.  Have to say this is the first age-specific birthday card I've received in many years, so it must be another milestone.  I don't know how it happened, but I am happy to still be here.   Started sewing on a treadle...and now I have quilt friends all over the globe.  It's a wonderful life!!!

Last week my vintage '91 Volvo went in for a complete overhaul, and it runs like new again.   Hey, maybe a Swedish massage would give my body more mileage, too...hmmmmm

Indigo Hexies

I have totally lost count of the hexies, but am counting the strips now instead.  Eleven done ...

...and number twelve begun!
