Tile update

I have been having a wonderful time with fabric scraps from friends....Victoria, Lisa, Karen, Nicole, and Janet (her "Ugly" green looks perfect with that big red rose) The only fabric that came from my stash was the Froggy. All tiles are in place now and ready to baste. Next step is needle-turn applique, and then the magic grout appears!

Touch of Class

Confession.....I am a lifelong student. I just love taking classes! Started this tile quilt yesterday at an Applique Society class on Long Island. Besides meeting some old and new friends ( which I love) we had the expert instruction of renowned teacher Diane Rode Schneck.

Here is a sample block from the book Tile Quilt Revival by Carol Gilham Jones and Bobbi Finley. I love the way this looks. And the method of construction can lead to such a variety of designs. Everyone was wanting more, so we continued our quilt chatting at Piccolo's. It was a great class!!!

With a Little Help...

...From my friends, I have found a place for my final fabric. Seaweed, of course!
The white looks a little too bright for the deep, however.

But that can be fixed by an overlay of blue-green organza.

Now it looks like it belongs. Ready to applique....Yay!

First Step is Always the Hardest

Cutting into E's fabric was very scary! I had so many ideas for this block, but I kept coming back to an underwater scene. No turning back now.....

The light blue batik looked like fish for sure. How about a redfish, too?

One more fabric to go. Will have to ponder a while. Any ideas?

Talk to Me

I am waiting for these fabrics to "speak" to me. Encyclopedia has given me these fabrics along with the challenge of creating a block that depicts any of Nature's Elements...water, air, fire, earth. I have been waiting for an inspiration for over a week now. Trouble is I cannot make up my mind between water and air....or fire....or even earth. Too many ideas are whirling around in my upstairs. Kinda like a tornado going on here!

Up Close and Personal

Seeing a work of art up close is the best!

Sharing the experience is even better!
