Monday Morning Star Count

I am posting my count a day early, because it's a very busy week here....houseguests, block party, and some much needed hedge pruning.  I am counting nine Indigo hexies...pushing the category a little to anything that goes with indigo.  "Some Pig" is trying to get into the act...and make it a ten!

Cool Hexies

We're havin' a heat wave...and I have a great excuse to start another new project.  Since we have been asked to conserve power to prevent outages, I am unplugging all unnecessary appliances today.  No cooking, laundry, ironing, machine sewing, and computering...after this post.  Instead, I am cutting hexies for my indigo quilt today.  Have had this quilt in my head for years, and Jessica's Monday Morning Star Count post is the start I needed.   Check her blog Lifeunderquilts.blogspot.com and join up today.

Japanese Stamps

Another page for my album is ready to sew.  This block includes some very special fabrics from Cynthia (a quilter by night) which arrived via Air Mail from Japan.  I really didn't want to  cut into these awesome scraps.    A vintage plaid, taupe linen, very fine indigo, and tenugi cotton plus some "pretties", as you can see in the photo below.   I am saving the little piggies for a special little art quilt, wouldn't you?

"Met Men" quilt complete...

I made this quilt for the NYC Metro Mod Quilter's challenge.  The only requirements were to interpret Metro anyway you wished and to try something new.  Since the materials in this quilt came from guys who rode the subway every day in their suits and ties, it fits my impression.  The back is a NYC subway map print from City Quilter, and the old subway tokens "tie" it all together.  This is my first wool, silk, and metal quilt!
