Listen to the Fabrics!
This morning my red silks were all fanned out on my table. I sewed them all together and cut into a 7" block. I have wanted to make a silk fan quilt for a long time. Maybe this is it...
I added a black border and it looked like it would be a good center for an Amish Diamond-in-the-Square quilt. Made fabric from neutrals for the side triangles. But the combination just didn't sing to me...
The reds needed a little improv, too! I hear ya!

Challenged Again
Time to get back to work...I mean play. The new Miniature Challenge on 15minutesplay.com has captured my attention this week. I want to use these little decorator silk samples as 'made fabric' for my mini quilt. The palette looks almost Amish to me, but I have no idea what it will become.

Barbara
My old friend Barbara is in town again. She flies in from Seattle every October for a visit. We strolled around Old Westbury Gardens today and ran into a fierce looking crowd...

Meeting Edith
When my online friend Edith from Germany told me she was coming to NYC, I suggested we meet at City Quilter. It was the perfect place for both of us. She had a shopping list and I had fun helping her find some NY souvenirs....fabric mostly! I can hardly wait to see what she makes with the skyscraper prints. Even though we had some difficulty with language...her English was better than my German...we had no problem talking Fabric!!!
