When my friend Irene was about to toss her "old & ugly" charm squares, I just had to rescue them. I figured that if you cut any fabric small enough, it looks good. I have spent many months happily hand piecing these little 3-inch nine patches. All together they have a genteel look...age appropriate, I think...and not ugly after all.
That's not ugly, it is gorgeous! I love little nine patches. I think you did right by rescuing those little charm squares.
ReplyDeleteI love it!
Very sweet Helen - you are patient to hand piece! That is an art! And I love the calm colors you paired with it, almost has a sepia look. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletePerfect setting and as you have said, there is something special about the small nine patches. Three inch finish is my favorite size for the nine . Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. Smaller does look better, and it worked out to be a lovely quilt.

Good thing you rescued these. It's really a lovely quilt!
ReplyDeleteI find these colors to be calming and very traditionally lovely. My living room has predominantly been decorated with this palette. Beautiful, my artist friend from afar.
ReplyDeleteThis is a stunning little quilt! I'm so glad you rescued that fabric. :) And I love the "Snowballs in Hell" quilt.
