Another Side Excursion
My Indigo Hexies are still on track, but I have been tempted to take another side trip into the land of silk ribbon embroidery. I was so dazzled by my friend Kim's artistry in this little fan block that I decided to take a class at City Quilter from favorite teacher Judy Doenias. I learned many tricks that aren't available in most books, so I am off and running (in my rocking chair) with these lovely stitches. I will post a photo when I have mastered the technique.

Missing One?
I have ten more appliqued this week. If you notice a gap, it is because I wanted to include the cute little Yukata dragonfly below. I may add a few more white hexies to show that it was a deliberate choice--not a mistake.

Showing Green
Everyone is Irish today! I never wear green, but I have it all around my house. This is a detail of a quilt I made years ago. I have posted it here before, but I want to show it one more time. I began my blog three years ago today! And wouldn't you know that NYC is having a big parade!!!

Side Trip
Took a little EPP side trip this week. I had a delightful time with some charm packs I picked up.
Will get back on track with my Indigo hexies now...

Monday Morning Comment
Last week "Pretty little things" comment included a question about how I applique my hexies. I use Jessica's paper clip method when I baste, which makes it easy to remove the papers. Then I trim away the excess fabric.
I hide my knot inside the seam allowance and make my little applique stitches around the pinned in place hexie. It's a good idea to bury the thread tail on the back when finishing, so that it will not shadow through the white background later.
