The Long, Long Road

This week I appliqued another strip of hexies.  Two more to go on this long, long road.  This cold weather is slowing down my hand sewing fingers.  We are expecting another 8 or 10 inches of snow this weekend.  My driveway is getting longer with each snowfall, too!

Up Close and Personal

Hand sewing is my most favorite way to create.  It's up close and gives me time to really see the color and design in each fabric as I go.  Reminds me of my piano teaching days and how I related to each student personally.  Also why I prefer walking to driving.  Takes me longer to get there, but I love the details along the way.  My Monday Morning Count is 9 more appliqued this week...and I know each and every one!

Enjoy

My mom is very ill and won't live to see spring.  I have been on the phone with her the past few days, sharing memories and feelings, and her one piece of advice was "Life goes by so fast...Enjoy every day!"  She is 94 and has managed to do just that for most of her life.  God bless her...

Forever Love Stamps

Another Postage Stamp piece here.  This time I used them in a little quilt for the Metro Mod "Love" swap.  When I found out that my swap partner has also been making a Forever Stamp quilt,  I was stunned by the coincidence!  What are the odds???

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!

Making Do With White & Blue

Taking a break from EPP to make a charity quilt for the guild.  I was inspired by Barbara Brackman's blog post titled "Cabin Fever" and did as she suggested....started making some HST's.  Used up a lot of white scraps to use with this pretty blue that I picked up on the give-away table   If this winter doesn't ease up soon, I will have to buy some new fabric.  Awww....

Hexing With Friends

You can hex anywhere and anytime, but the best way is hexing with friends.  Spent an afternoon  sewing with Christa this week.  Before I knew it  I had 20 new hexies basted.  We shared stories and made great progress.   Jessica, the mother of Monday Morning Star Count, has fostered many friendships online and in person.  Thank goodness for friends who can talk, blog, and sew at the same time!

Polar Vortex

I love this photo of Melissa toasting her toes in front of an old wood stove.  You may recall the earlier photo below where she is wearing her Christmas sox....

It's been a cruel winter here in the Northeast, but we are finding delightful ways to beat the chill.  I am under stacks of beautiful quilts, myself!

Who's Counting?

Was delighted to receive these beautiful fabrics from my friend Eri Sakakibara this week.  She has given me many wonderful pieces from her unique stash for my Indigo Hexies.  I feel very honored to work with them.

I have lost count of how many hexies I basted this week...

I guess about dozen got appliqued, but I would rather sew than count!
