Z is for ......
....Zithromax. I have been battling bronchitis this week and am now taking antibiotic. Being sick is so boring. Have been watching Turner Classics until my eyeballs popped out. So this morning I had to do a little quilting for my sanity. Have been wanting to try this design ever since my day at Jessica's, and I think I have it figured out. Now I need to catch some zzzzz's.

Gee's Bend
We had a wonderful program at Empire Quilters on Saturday. Maggie shared some of her Gee's Bend collection and pointed out the unusual quilting designs in their "simple" quilts. This red & white was quilted with a rooftop motif instead of within the strips. Was that a practical choice or an aesthetic one?
The unusual color combination caught my eye on this one. I like interesting juxtapositions that raise questions....like why did this quilter add a white binding?
My own version of Gee's Bend inspired piecing is the scarf above. I added cotton scrap blocks to some silks for an elegant/rustic look.
