My Metro Mod pals (Victoria, Lisa, Jody, moi, Chris, Margaret) all went a little crazy at the Darien Historical Society yesterday. Crazy for these Silk & Satin lovelies. The crazy quilt above looks haphazard but it is really well planned and executed. Those colors and shapes move your eye around until you just need to stop and admire the elegant stitches....which I tried to memorize. Yeah, right!
This Friendship Fan quilt is on my Bucket List. I've been collecting silks and velvets. Now all I need are some friends to offer their help. Anybody???
The Norwalk Hat Factory quilt was made from satin scraps used in hat linings. I can't imagine putting all those sumptuous fabrics inside a hat where it doesn't even show. Anyway, I love the simple string-like strips arranged in a rail fence or basket weave design....almost. Look again and notice that it is a variation of the traditional pattern. I want to make this quilt, too.
Lastly, this Baby Blocks wall hanging was fun with its tassel fringe. But I overheard someone say they looked like dead rabbits' feet!!! It was a day filled with delight....just crazy enough for me!
I'd make a friendship fan or two for you!
